Temecula nonprofit organization celebrates relocation of bargain store with grand opening event, back to school resource fair, back pack drive and prizes

WHO:

Serving as Southern California's largest food distribution center, Western Eagle Foundation provides unparalleled expertise in collecting and distributing food and clothing to over 60 Southern California cities. Through a network of more than 500 donors, Western Eagle collects dried and canned foods, as well as fresh produce and dairy products. By partnering with more than 100 local non-profit organizations these products are distributed directly to people in need free of charge.

Western Eagle has developed a low cost food box program to help families who earn an income, but still find it hard to make ends meet week to week. Project Food Box provides a family of four enough food for two meals a day for an entire week. There is no paperwork or eligibility requirement to purchase a $25 Food Box. Since launching the program in 2002, Western Eagle has distributed more than 9,000,000 meals through Project Food Box.

The Western Eagle Bargain Store recently relocated from a warehouse on Diaz Road to a 44k sq. ft. superstore on County Center Drive in Temecula filled with groceries, clothing, home goods, health & beauty products, and furniture. The inventory is largely comprised of items donated by big retailers and other shipments are acquired at deep discounts. No other store in the Valley has better deals on retail items from Macy's, Target, Costco, and CVS. Simply by shopping at the Western Eagle Bargain store, consumers are helping others in need! Store hours are Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 5pm.

Proceeds from the Bargain Store help to defray operating costs and subsidize Project Food Box. Western Eagle also actively seeks community partners to share in their mission to help people in need. Joining forces with compassionate companies like Boeing, TJX Companies, Inc., Pechanga Resort & Casino, Abbott Vascular, Wal-Mart, Carolina Logistics, Vons, CVS and Torrey Pines Bank the fight to eliminate hunger is marching on.

WHAT:

Western Eagle Foundation is celebrating the new location of their bargain store with a Back to School resource fair and back pack drive. Partner non-profit organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Riverside Counties, Inland Tutors and more will offer parents and students ideas on how to make the 2011-2012 school year the best yet.

In addition, new back packs will be collected to be donated to families with children enrolled in the Food Box Program. Anyone that donates a backpack will be entered into a drawing to win $1,000 cash, gift cards and more. Additional elements of the event will include:

  • A live radio remote with 101.3 The Mix
  • Food vendors
  • Jolly Jump
  • Discounts at the bargain store
  • Drawings, prizes and much, much more!
